Wayfinding Program

Bicycle and Pedestrian Wayfinding Program
Posted on 01/09/2019
Cotati is pleased to present its draft Bicycle and Pedestrian Wayfinding Program. A wayfinding signage program is a coordinated family of signs and markers to help people find their way around town and encourage exploration on bicycle and foot. Development of the wayfinding program was made possible by a grant from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in coordination with the Sonoma County Transportation Authority.

To help develop the program, the City retained the services of MERJE, a well-known design firm skilled in the development of community wayfinding programs throughout the country. The City also formed a Wayfinding Steering Committee made up of members of the Chamber of Commerce, the Design Review Committee, Planning Commission, and City Council - and through a series of public meetings held throughout 2018, identified wayfinding priorities and debated design options.

The following draft documents are the culmination of that planning and design effort that will be presented for City adoption the evening of January 22 at a special Joint Meeting of the Design Review Committee, Planning Commission and City Council.
