Emergency Preparedness KitOn Sunday, September 8, The County of Sonoma will host Sonoma Ready Day: a community-wide emergency preparedness fair, from 10am-3pm at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. This is a great opportunity for you and your loved ones to continue your efforts to become more prepared and resilient for future disasters. I hope you will consider attending.

Following the October 2017 Fires, the Board of Supervisors identified enhanced community preparedness as a top ten priority in Sonoma County’s Recovery and Resiliency Framework. According to FEMA, the top barriers to preparedness include the beliefs that preparing is too expensive, and that residents do not know how to prepare. Sonoma Ready Day will help remove these barriers by providing extensive information on preparedness and also provide 2,400 FREE emergency kits to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sonoma Ready Day will offer emergency resources, demonstrations, short lectures, emergency vehicle displays and tools to educate and empower community members to withstand and recover from emergencies. The event will focus on disaster preparedness as well as health and wellness best practices.

Admission and parking are free and there will be food trucks on-site for food purchases as well as activities for kids. This is a bilingual event and we will have Spanish and ASL interpreters on hand.
