The Cotati Police Department is responsible for the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws, and with providing 24-hour protection of the lives and property of the public. The Police Department functions both as an instrument of public service and as a tool for the distribution of information, guidance, and direction. The Police Department provides a 24 hour operation which includes dispatch, patrol, traffic enforcement, investigation, and community policing. We encourage Cotati residents to program in the non-emergency telephone number into their telephones, 707-792-4611. The non-emergency number is answered 24 hours a day.

The police facility was officially dedicated on October 17, 2003. The building is named in the honor of former Reserve Officer Robert "Raz" Rasmussen for his thirty-five years of service to the Cotati community.
